X-35A (JSF Prototype)
Lockheed Martin · USA
The X-35A was the conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) version of the JSF demonstrator. It proved that a stealthy, high-performance fighter could use a common airframe for three different service branches. Its success in supersonic flight and handling led to it winning the JSF contract.
